One of the biggest factors holding me back was my own fear and sense of intimidation. There is so much involved in gardening that I don't know. But as with most things in my life I'm just going to plunge in. I'll find resources and get help from friends along the way. :) So this may be a learning-from-my-mistakes year, but that is still forward progress so I'll try to stay positive.
So I'm now in a house with ample yard space to start a veggie garden. The space I'm going to use has been neglected for a couple years. So this first picture is after a day of work trying to find the ground under all the leaves.

So that's it for this update. I have a feeling the next update might involve some cursing over my sore back after digging out the garden plot...

I will plant a small garden with maybe some squash and okra, but I spend most of my garden time in my flower garden. You can see part of my flower garden in my blog. I'm sure your garden will grow!
You have a great looking space for a garden. I REALLY need to clean up my garden but this darn rain keeps coming on the weekends. I just started my garden blog and am now following you, look forward to seeing your progress.
That's a great garden spot! I love gardening and learn something new every year...very rewarding!! Best of luck~ and thanks for the tips!
Our garden is something I need to tackle this year. That is a good tip with the toilet roll holders :)
Good luck with your gardening project! My luck has varied depending on the soil and climate of the various places I've lived in. Also i now know that Indiana squirrels do not like tomatoes; Ohio squirrels do.
Thank you everyone for your words of encouragement! :)
Good luck with the gardening!! I've tried starting seeds inside with little luck. Now I just go to the greenhouse and get what I need as far as tomatoes, peppers and flowers go. Look forward to seeing more pics of your garden!!
Added a link to your blog on mine - under "Etsy Bloggers" on the right sidebar!
Thanks so much for adding my button to your blog.
